The LLB (Hons) Law degree is a stimulating and challenging course that focuses on justice, technology and employability. It combines a balanced and stimulating legal education with practical skills and work-based learning. Students will gain knowledge of the law and its application in the real world, learn how to analyze and solve problems, and be able to present logical, reasoned arguments. This emphasis on skills means learners will be ready for the challenges of any career.

USW is a Top 50 Law School, according to Guardian League Tables, and prides itself on its excellent teaching and student support. Its LLB degree is recognised as a qualifying law degree (QLD) for professional purposes in the UK. It satisfies the academic stage of training set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board for progression to the vocational stage; the Legal Practice Course (LPC) to become a solicitor, or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) to become a barrister.

Students will benefit from USW's award-wining Legal Advice Clinic, which provides opportunities for every law student to gain vital skills that they can take with them into the workplace. In addition to this, the University has strong connections with industry and host a range of guest speakers who are experts in their field, to provide context and real-life examples relating to the topics they study.

Teaching methods vary from traditional lectures to more clinical legal education and online simulations. Outside of the classroom, learners will have the opportunity to join the thriving USW Student Law Society and get involved in a range of sporting and networking activities. They could also visits the Houses of Parliament and the Supreme Court, to mooting classes and social activities.

USW works with the legal services sector to offer valuable work placements, where students can practice their new legal skills and understand the realities of the workplace. This placement will also contribute towards their legal degree. Firms involved in the scheme include Hugh James, Eversheds, Capital Law and many more. Students are also provided with many volunteering opportunities with a Regional Employment Judge, ELIPS (Employment Tribunal Litigant in Person Scheme), Shelter Cymru Volunteer Pathways Programme, Age Cymru Independent Volunteer Advocates and Cardiff Lawyers Care Homelessness Clinic.

Graduates progress into a variety of careers which range from Legal Technologists, Social Work, Police, Third Sector organizations, Business, Finance and HR to name a few possibilities.
