Master of Arts - Leadership and Management - Education

MA Leadership and Management (Education) is for those who are, or aspire to be, leaders or managers in an educational setting. This postgraduate course is suitable for those working within a nursery setting through to those working in an adult learning environment.

Students will gain a deeper and broader understanding of the latest developments in the sector, engage critically with educational and management theory ideas and research and apply their learning to their own practice. In addition, students will also learn from others in the group, and be encouraged to share good practice and develop links with colleagues from other organizations.

Learners will take the following two specialist leadership and management modules:

  • Developing Learning in Organizations
  • Developing People in Organizations

Students will also, in common with all of the MA Education programmes, study the core module Research Methodology and undertake either a short or a long Dissertation. Full time students can ask to be given an internship during the final semester so that they can learn from observing good practice in a relevant education setting.

A Masters degree is required for professional advancement in numerous occupations, and is widely seen as evidence of a successful commitment to high level professional development. As a result of successful study of the MA Leadership and Management (Education), a significant number of students have achieved senior management posts within educational settings. Graduates can also progress to a PhD or research degree.
