Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Accounting and Finance (Placement Year)
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Accounting and Finance (Placement Year) is a professionally-oriented programme which is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge and confidence that are key to succeeding in the dynamic world of multinational companies and international financial markets. Alternatively, they might choose to use the skills and experience to work in the public sector or set up their own business. The programme is accredited by all the major accountancy bodies, providing graduates with exemptions from many of these bodies’ core examinations. This is a huge advantage as the exemptions will ease the process of becoming professionally qualified, allowing them more time to focus on developing their career.
Accounting and Finance play a crucial role in running a successful organisation and contributing to economic growth. Accountants and finance professionals are needed in assessing revenues and expenditures, complying with regulations and providing management, investors, government and other stakeholders with key information for strategic decision-making purposes. Students will gain a solid grounding in understanding the role that accounting and financial information plays within organisations, and how to apply this information in such a way that it has a real impact on management decisions and the communication of relevant information to external parties.
