The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Childhood and Youth Studies (English-medium course) (Placement Year) is a dynamic, multidisciplinary course offers students the opportunity to study a diverse range of topics that relate to the lived experiences of children and young people in contemporary society, supporting them in pursuing careers within a variety of areas including teaching, social work, counselling and law.

The teaching team have expertise and backgrounds in psychology, sociology, children’s rights, linguistics, education, forensics, health and welfare. This rich and diverse learning environment is a unique trait of the course, and gives students the opportunity to study childhood and youth from multiple perspectives.

The placement year provides students with a fantastic opportunity to broaden horizons and develop valuable skills and contacts through working with a self-sourced organisation relevant to the degree subject. The Placement Year is undertaken at the end of the second year and they are away for the whole of the academic year. The minimum period in placement (at one or more locations) is seven calendar months; more usually they would spend 10-12 months with a placement provider.
