Asia is home to more than half of the world’s population, with Asian nations emerging as major economic powers while their populations assert their own cultural identities. Asian studies offers instruction in the languages, histories and cultures of China, India, Korea and Japan.

With Asian countries emerging as major economic powers, much of Canada's future economic development depends on its links with Asia. Asian studies prepares students to recognize the opportunities presented by these changes and to develop skills in intercultural communications.
