Program Prerequisites: Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Completion of undergraduate-level courses in calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability, statistics, and mathematical modeling. Mathematical and Computational Foundation: Strong knowledge of advanced calculus, real analysis, and abstract algebra. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python, MATLAB, or R) for computational mathematics. Knowledge of numerical methods and optimization techniques is often required. Standardized Tests: Some institutions may require GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) scores, particularly in the quantitative section. High scores in mathematics-related sections can strengthen an application. Skills and Competencies: Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills. Ability to work with mathematical software (e.g., MATLAB, Mathematica, or Python). Research skills for applying mathematical techniques to real-world problems. Other Requirements: Recommendation letters from professors or professionals familiar with the applicant's academic and research capabilities. Personal statement outlining the applicant's academic background, research interests, and career goals.
