KCGI, established in 2004 as Japan's first IT professional graduate school, aims to cultivate professionals in applied information technology. The admission process includes an interview and an oral examination, which assess the applicant's general knowledge and subject-specific understanding.

Applicants should have graduated from a four-year university or a four-year department at a vocational school approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Alternatively, individuals recognized through the university's screening process as having equivalent or higher scholastic ability, and who are at least 22 years old as of April 1 of the admission year, are also eligible to apply.
