Bachelor of Arts - Honours Arts - Anthropology (Co-op)
Program Description
Students who have a wide variety of interests, Honours Arts gives them the freedom to explore it.
In the University of Waterloo's largest and most flexible first-year program, students will use their first two terms to test the waters. Sample courses from the humanities, social sciences, fine and performing arts, and languages and cultures. Discover subjects students weren’t exposed to in high school, or delve deeper into their favourite subject at the university level.
Honours Arts will give students the critical thinking skills to analyze issues, make persuasive arguments, write well, and speak with conviction — skills that will serve them well along any career path.
In a rapidly changing and increasingly globalized world, the insights of anthropology are more valuable than ever.
In Anthropology at the University of Waterloo, students will explore cultures past and present. Students can delve into the origins of human and primate evolution, use archaeology to learn more about earlier societies, or tackle contemporary issues such as violence and media.
The first-year introductory anthropology course exposes students to the breadth of this discipline. In upper years, students can focus their degree on the area of anthropology that interests them most: socio-cultural, archaeological, or biological (physical) anthropology.
Students will graduate to a wide range of career options, including market research, cultural resource management, forensic anthropology, and international development, with the added bonus of work experience for students who take the co-op stream.
