Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Media and Communication Studies (EI)
Program Description
Today, we live and breathe media, minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour. News, television, social media, celebrity culture, music, and more. Western's philosophy is: if you’re going to consume it, you need to understand it. In MIT, student studies will focus on modern communication and information technologies, and how they influence life in ways that students may not even recognize.
Critical media studies requires students to study the subject in-depth, analysing and critiquing what they find. From newspapers, radio and television, to the Internet and mobile technologies, media, communication technologies and information tools impact our daily lives in countless ways. Society uses them to socialize with others, to seek out or share information and entertainment and to participate in social and cultural debates.
NOTE: Please note the English scores listed are minimum requirements. Meeting the minimums does not guarantee admission. Students with low English scores may be admitted to the English BOOST Program, a 9 week training program for conditional admission to their chosen program.
