Master of Science - Management of Business Information Technology

The Management of Business Information Technology, MSc course welcomes applicants with a good first degree in any discipline, and it is particularly suited to those with a degree in business or with business experience. Students will gain an understanding of the information technologies used in e-commerce and how it supports industries with new ways of organizing and managing business. They'll also study a combination of subjects, from technical elements such as systems design and user experience to managerial elements such as project management, IT auditing, and governance.

Students will learn the vital requirements for a business system, and be given an in-depth understanding of the complex nature of software development. This course will help them develop practical skills in tackling user interface and database design issues, as well as system process modelling topics. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to develop a system based on requirements, considering graphic user interface and database implementation. They'll also have the project management skills required for IT consultancy and strategic decision-making.

In a typical week, learning takes place through a combination of lectures, tutorials and practical work in the labs. Students will be able to discuss and develop their understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller group sessions, and put their learning into practice in the University's specialist computer laboratories. Outside of timetabled sessions, they'll need to dedicate time to self-study to prepare for coursework, presentations and exams. Greenwich's Stockwell Street library and online resources will support further reading and research.

The University of Greenwich has a long-standing relationship with the British Computer Society (BCS), which accredits the computing degree programmes. Learners can also join a range of student societies, including the Computer and Technology Society, Gre Cyber Sec, Forensic Science Society, and the Games Development Society.

Graduates from this course are equipped for employment in industry, commerce or research with a proficiency in the key theoretical and practical areas in management of modern information systems.
