Master of Science - Biomedical Science
The Master of Science Biomedical Science program will provide a multi-disciplinary perspective of the current and developing field of pathology, medical genetics and disease management. This programme will provide students with a broad foundation of scientific knowledge regarding to human health and disease of importance in modern day diagnostics.
Modules are designed to deliver both cutting edge theoretical and practical experience and learners will be taught to investigate various medical conditions including cancer, toxicological insult, food poisoning, anemia, meningitis and cardiac disease.
Successful graduates from the program will have developed not only specialist subject specific skills but a broad range of highly relevant transferable skills required for knowledge communication, professional report and scientific writing, and independent and group presentations using a wide range of media and formats.
Through Bangor University's connection with the North West Cancer Research Institute, and the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, students can benefit from strong exposure to practicing professionals utilizing current diagnostic practice. The course is designed to open up career development opportunities in emerging areas of Biomedical Science relating to core pathology disciplines.
Graduates looking towards new routes of employment would be well-positioned to enter support, implementation and development roles in the rapidly expanding field of diagnostic equipment manufacture and sales as well as pharmacological routes. This programme will also allow those considering careers in research across medical and clinical institutions, academic institutions and industry to embark on these roles.
