Program Description
University of Reading's MA Classics and Ancient History is one of the widest-ranging courses in the UK, with expertise spanning Bronze Age to late antiquity, Anatolia to Egypt and the Near East. Students will be taught by world-leading experts, with particular research strength in a wide range of disciplines including ancient history, literature, language, archaeology, art and culture.
University of Reading's Department is ranked 6th in the UK for research overall, 3rd in the UK for research output (Times Higher Education Institutions Ranked by Subject, 2014, based on its analysis of REF 2014 - Classics), and 100% of their research impact has been recognized as world leading or internationally excellent (Research Excellence Framework, 2014 - Classics).
Students will benefit from facilities including the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology, the University Library and a dedicated postgraduate room in the heart of the Classics Department. There are also opportunities to work in the on-site Ure Museum, which houses the fourth-largest collection of Greek ceramics in the UK, outside of the module. Students can also enter Greek and/or Latin tuition from beginner's to advanced level.
