About
Charles Darwin University is a truly unique institution. Our multi-campus, dual-sector status, virtual and online expertise, course profile, research activities, delivery methods, and operation result from our commitment to the regions in which we operate. The University now has the new Strategic Plan in place, which will guide the development of our university over the next five years. It gives us a very clear road map to building a bigger, better and stronger university, valuing and empowering our people to make a difference. CDU believes in the transformative power of training, education and research to change peoples lives for the better. We have a collective responsibility to make sure that our training, education and research are not only high quality and delivered by outstanding educators and researchers but are accessible and meaningful. What we do matters to our communities. As an international student, you will study full-time and on campus. With 11 campuses and centres located around Australia, you could be studying in tropical Darwin, the outback of Alice Springs or in one of our more famous cities - Sydney. We are a deeply connected university, working in partnership and collaboration with First Nations peoples, our communities and industries, government, and alumni to address the needs of the Northern Territory and regional, rural, and remote people nationally and globally. We are committed to making significant contributions to the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the NT and Northern Australia and to export our expertise nationally and globally.

Choose to live on or off campus while you study with CDU. Whether you're moving interstate or to Australia from a different country, you'll find your home away from home. Even if you're just visiting the campus for a placement or trade block, take advantage of our short-term accommodation options.
1. On-campus accommodation Casuarina accommodation :
Right on campus, International House Darwin (IHD) is part of the International Houses network in Australia and overseas. IHD Casuarina campus is a way of life and a residential community for both local and international students. People come together to not only learn and study, but build relationships, personal journeys, and their future. Katherine accommodation : Katherine Student Accommodation (KSA) includes a recreation room, dining room, training and conference facilities and a pool. These facilities are available to all residents - whether living here on a short or long-term stay or visiting from any school groups or conference groups. Alice Springs accommodation : The Alice Springs Student Accommodation (ASSA) provides accommodation for CDU students, students from other universities undertaking placement, CDU staff, visiting guests, and groups.
2. Off-campus accommodation :
There are lots of providers offering accommodation in residencies built for students as well as private landlord options. If you are arriving in Darwin from interstate or overseas, make sure you have short-term accommodation booked (hotel, backpackers) prior to your arrival. This is to ensure you have sufficient time to inspect properties thoroughly before signing a tenancy agreement. Prior to searching for private accommodation ensure you have thought about the type you are looking for, location and how much you can afford.
3. UniLodge Darwin :
Accommodation is a great option for students studying at Casuarina, Palmerston or Darwin Waterfront. It neighbours the Casuarina Shopping Centre and is only a five-minute walk to the Casuarina campus.
4 Homestay : Students who are new to Australia enjoy the benefits of homestay programmes to get a taste of local life. An international student and a local person or family in the host country exchange cultures during a homestay. For an agreed-upon duration and cost, the "host" offers accommodation and assistance. Meals, assistance, and other activities are all options for homestays. The students gain an understanding of the language, way of life, and local customs.
