University of South Wales - Newport City
United Kingdom Usk Way
About
At the University of South Wales, it’s all about being bold, independent and fulfilling potential. It is one of the largest universities in the UK, offering students excellent opportunities and prospects. South Wales is an exceptional part of the UK, with city life, countryside and coast. With campuses located in Cardiff, Newport, Pontypridd and Dubai, 95% of graduates work or study within six months of graduation (DLHE 2016/17). All of these campuses are easily reached by road, rail and air, so wherever students come from, they’re never far from home.
A modern, ambitious university, the University of South Wales makes a real difference to the lives of students, staff and the communities which surround it. With campuses in Cardiff, Newport, Pontypridd and Dubai, the University is renowned for its partnerships with major employers. Their industry connections and emphasis on equipping students with real world experiences make their graduates among the most employable in the UK. And throughout everything they do, they strive to stay true to their core values of being Professional, Responsive, Inspiring and Creative.
Why The University of South Wales
- Work Placements: Several courses offered at South Wales University guarantee work placements, while the Business and Management, Engineering, Computing and Science and Creative Industries faculties offer the opportunity to work in industry for a year.
- Study Abroad: ERASMUS+ is the European Union programme for training, youth and sport offering exciting opportunities for participants to study, work, volunteer, teach and train abroad.
- Employability: The University works hard to ensure that students are ready to start a successful career as soon as they graduate. They have even made employability part of the curriculum, with teaching informed by what happens in the real world and skills students will need for the workplace.
- High Quality Education: Many courses at the University have been accredited by professional bodies. This means they are of the highest standard and can grant students exemptions from professional exams as an added extra.

Off-Campus Accommodations
Students wishing to live off-campus need to research availability on their own, and should arrive well before the start of term to do so.
HOMESTAY
There are a wide variety of homestay options available, and our partner schools do their best to match students and hosts according to their interests and preferences. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.
Even if you do NOT meet our minimum English requirement (IELTS or TOEFL), you still can get conditionally accepted in the program of your choice with the condition of completing our English program prior to starting your chosen program.
See guidelines on working while studying here.
Cooperative education (or co-operative education) and internships are methods of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience ("co-op"), provides academic credit for structured job experience. Co-ops are full-time, paid or unpaid positions. Internships may be full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid positions.
Post-Study Work Visa will be open to all students, on Tier 4 visas, who are accepted onto a course in the 2020 intake or later. Once you have successfully completed a course of study at the undergraduate level or above at an approved UK Higher Education Provider you would be able to stay and work (in any sector or at any level) for a maximum of two years.
The full details and requirements are yet to be announced by the UK Government, but will be updated here when made available.
